News is the communication of information on current events which is presented by print, broadcast, Internet, or word of mouth to a third party or mass audience. History of news reportingIn its infancy, news gathering was primitive by today's standards. Printed news had to be phoned in to a newsroom or brought there by a reporter, where it was typed and either transmitted over wire services or edited and manually set in type along with other news stories for a specific edition. Today, the term "breaking news" has become trite as broadcast and cable news services use live satellite technology to bring current events into consumers' homes live as they happen. Events that used to take hours or days to become common knowledge in towns or in nations are fed instantaneously to consumers via radio, television, mobile phone, and the Internet. GNU Free Documentation License What is the top news network and where do I find confirmation? Q. I'm looking for proof that The Fox News Network is the top news network, or the most watched. Where can I find that info, or anything to the contrary? Cable or basic TV. Doesn't matter. Asked by drissy29 - Wed Feb 25 13:23:46 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Fox News dominates the ratings. Answered by dell_fargus - Wed Feb 25 13:32:51 2009 Can I include actual quotes from a news article in a fictitious story based upon the news article? Q. I have written a short story (fiction) based upon an actual event that was covered by the news. In my story, I wish to include actual quotes from the news article that was written about that event. What are the rules governing this? Please advise and give me some good sources of reference, if you can. Thank You. Asked by Tuli - Tue Aug 3 21:17:04 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Public information is free. You can quote from any source provided you keep the information true. You can only be sued if you misquote or write information that you cannot prove is true. Q. Just a question out of curiousty and is probably going to get an enraged and perhaps deranged debate going lol. Is it CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, BBC News, Aljazerra, Sky News and the list keeps going lol. Which news do you find to be the most unbiased? Asked by Paulie The Kiwi - Thu Nov 12 07:31:10 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I've never found a source I didn't think was biased, I don't think there is one. If the contrast between the American sources wasn't extreme enough try comparing both the right and left views in the U.S. to the views of the same events in, say, the London Times, the Asian Times (fm China), Asian Age (fm India), Der Spiegel (fm Germany), and the Gulf Times (fm Qatar). I try to get as many viewpoints as possible and look for commonalities, at least then I've got a shot at getting some actual facts despite the spins.
